Ingredients & Evidence

Meet the ingredients in Restorative Sleep Complex and Stress Balance. This guide brings together the amounts on each label and published research on the individual ingredients.

Research findings depend on the ingredient preparation, dose, population and study design. A study of an individual ingredient does not establish how our finished products will perform at their labeled amounts. Results vary, and no particular outcome is guaranteed.

Restorative Sleep Complex™

Amounts below are per two-capsule serving. The formula contains four botanical extracts, GABA, L-tryptophan and melatonin. See the complete Supplement Facts image and directions on the Restorative Sleep Complex product page.

Other ingredients: gelatin (capsule) and brown rice flour. Restorative Sleep Complex is not vegan.

Stress Balance™

Amounts below are per one-capsule serving. See the product label and directions on the Stress Balance product page.

Capsule: pullulan.

Melatonin: why the amount matters

Restorative Sleep Complex contains 2 mg melatonin per two-capsule serving, a lower amount than 5 mg or 10 mg products. Sleep studies have used a range of doses and release forms; there is no single dose that is best for everyone.

A 2024 dose-response review found that timing and dose both mattered, with average sleep outcomes peaking around 4 mg in its analysis. Two-milligram melatonin has also been studied in prolonged-release prescription tablets; those findings do not establish the effects of this supplement blend.

A review of higher doses (10 mg and above) found more adverse events such as drowsiness, headache, and dizziness in the small subset of trials suitable for pooling. It did not directly compare our 2 mg blend with 5 mg or 10 mg products. Drowsiness, including the next day, remains possible with Restorative Sleep Complex.

How to read the research

Use each reference to examine what was actually studied: the ingredient form and amount, the participants, the duration and the outcomes. Some references concern concentrated extracts or combinations that differ from our formulas. They are educational references, rather than clinical tests of Pharmacist Botanicals products.

Choosing a supplement

Follow the product label. If you take medication, have a medical condition, are pregnant or breastfeeding, ask your healthcare professional before using a supplement. For general questions about a product’s label or ingredients, email support@pharmacistbotanicals.com.
